Lean management in maintenance
The idea behind Lean Management is to avoid dissipation. Only things which bring a clear added value will remain upright. The basic principles of Lean Management can also be applied for Lean Maintenance. In that aspect, Rimses is one of the most usable 'Lean Tools'.
Lean Management is also very closely associated with the management of maintenance costs. With a correct registration of work orders including hours and material, a clear overview of the maintenance costs can be achieved. The main goal is to find the most favorable balance between costs and investment. This does not only relate to the initial investment in e.g. an asset, other future investment decisions play an important role as well.
Preventing issues
Another aspect of Lean Management is 'permanent improvement'. It comes down to tackling the problems when they arise. A good system to link the problems with their causes is a must.
